Anyone remember the Datsun “Fairlady”? Datsun was of course the predecessor of Nissan Motors, a company founded in Japan back in the early 1930s. The first Fairlady models were a series of smart little convertible roadsters built in the early to mid-1960s, based on the British MG – but mechanically, were a whole lot more reliable. In 1969, Datsun decided to change the look as well as the appellation. While retaining the smooth, racy profile of its predecessors, the 370Z's inner workings were completely redesigned from what came before – with a high-powered 3.7 DOHC V6 putting out 332 horses to the rear wheels through a 7-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. In addition, Nissan reduced its weight by adding aluminum components and made it lower and wider for more stability – making the latest Z a performance enthusiast's dream come true.
