Sold from 2005 to 2010, first-generation Scion tCs were considered to be Toyota's replacement for the Celica. With a MacPherson strut front and double-wishbone rear suspension, the Scion provided precise cornering and a firm but compliant ride quality. The 2.4-L I4 powerplant was rated at 160 hp and was paired with a five-speed gearbox as standard equipment; a four-speed automatic was also available. Only one trim was offered, though Toyota did also offer a "spec package" version that did not have many of the standard accessories; it was intended for the tuner market. In model year 2009, the spec package was dropped.
