The third generation of Subaru WRX STI five-door hatchback began selling in model year 2008 with
Subaru WRX 2008 Performance Parts being available before the car came to dealerships. Subaru's Tecnica International division developed it with an eye to increasing the Subaru WRX 2008 Performance. Parts of the suspension were forged with aluminum, and it received a bigger intercooler than the standard WRX. The current-generation STI sports a double-wishbone rear suspension, with a MacPherson strut setup in front. The powerplant is a 2.5-L, 305-hp turbocharged engine. Model year 2010 saw the launch of the Impreza WRX STI Special Edition. It offered improved handling from a stiffer suspension and a thicker stabilizer bar. Otherwise, only minor changes have been made to the STI since 2008.
